New Jersey Schools Development Authority Celebrates Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the New Perth Amboy High School
Perth Amboy, NJ – The New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA) joined Perth Amboy School District students and officials, as well as State and local officials, at a ceremonial ribbon cutting signing for the new Perth Amboy High School.
“As the largest project ever undertaken by the SDA, this state-of-the-art school will encourage learning, student engagement, and creativity,” said SDA CEO Manuel Da Silva. “Through our collaboration with the Perth Amboy School District, the design of this facility focused on students’ needs and aspirations. The result – a world class educational facility in which Perth Amboy students will have innovative spaces to support their academic and personal success as they become college and career ready.”
The new Perth Amboy High School is an approximately 576,000 square-foot, three-story facility designed to educate a maximum of 3,300 students in ninth to twelfth grades. In addition to general classrooms and science labs, the school includes specialized educational spaces such as an automotive lab, culinary arts lab, black box studio, dance studio, ROTC Classroom, world languages classroom, life skills lab, and a daycare center. The new school is also equipped with 1:1 student technology,
an educational necessity now more than ever.
The $283.8 million Perth Amboy High School was built using a design-build approach. Terminal Construction Corporation/Dinallo Construction Corporation (Joint Venture) was awarded a design-build contract for the design and construction of the new school. As part of the
design-build contract, Terminal Construction Corp./Dinallo Construction Corp. worked with RSC Architects on the design. Anser Advisory was the Construction Manager on the project.
As a result of SDA's commitment to building energy-efficient buildings that consider the surrounding environment, this school was built to be LEED (United States Green Building
Council – Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified.
Since the inception of the State’s school construction program the SDA has invested more than $431
million in completed projects in the Perth Amboy School District, including the new Perth Amboy High
School.
